Director Statement:
"Sand Laddoo" emphasizes on how, despite being tiny creatures, sand bubbler crabs play an enormous role in maintaining the health of beach ecosystems. They filter the sand by consuming the organic matter present in it. These innocent tiny denizens hardly realize that with their survival chore they also ingest harmful microplastics and oil particles present in the sand. Their mere size increases their vulnerability to effects of irresponsible human interference and the stress imposed on their fragile habitat. Mere noticing these creatures and being aware of their presence on human habited beaches could be a crucial step towards their conservation.
