Synopsis:
Recording 377 is a dystopian short film set in the post-nuclear war era. The narrative revolves around a youthful filmmaker who finds herself irresistibly drawn into a mesmerizing cinematic journey. Together with her artificial intelligence companion, she endeavours to reconstruct an image of life on Earth in the run-up to the atomic explosion. She dives into deep-seated themes of life, death, love, and humanity. The movie blurs the boundaries between reality and fiction, submerging the viewer in a captivating audio-visual exploration.
Director Statement:
Recording 377 is a dystopia that serves as a warning of possible dangers and problematic developments, critiques existing social circumstances, encourages reflection on the future and alternative paths, and inspires change and action to prevent negative scenarios. The film raises the question of life after nuclear war and the loss of humanity and sensuality of the protagonist in these circumstances, where she is presented as a machine doing its job. Meanwhile, her companion, an artificial intelligence, becomes more and more human. This raises the question of which of them has a soul now. The film encourages us to think about negative future scenarios and to remember the value of life and love.
