The Innovation Officer
Directed by Alexander Auffermann
Synopsis:
In a dystopian society, technology dominates through automation, cat videos, and the seduction of excessive self-expression. The human balance of innovative power is collapsing. The growing dependence on invisible algorithms and the hostage-taking of the body's own reward system by technology mark the battlefield of the future. The scenario presents a technological war against the human mind, an invisible battle for people's minds and the ideas of tomorrow. A crossover of military and agent film characters to depict the tension between technology and innovation.
Director Statement:
It is based on the research question of how a society fares in which the balance between technology and innovation has shifted in favor of technology, and it explores the possibilities of restoring that balance. The work starts from the problem statement that human dependence on invisible algorithms, exploiting the body's reward system, the mesolimbic system, and the concept of "Object a" from Lacan's psychoanalytic theory, is steadily increasing. So it raises awareness of the use of modern technology, especially mobile devices and social media.
