Synopsis:
After looking for years, a young man finds his older brother hidden in a secluded woodshop. In an attempt to help him get out, he finds himself struggling with a surreal and chaotic environment. The movie follows his "heroic" attempt to save his brother from this incarcerated place as he tries to understand it.
Director Statement:
Our film, "The Woods", is a social impact project designed to shed light on the often overlooked experiences of family members and loved ones of individuals battling depression. Through the metaphorical imprisonment of Blake in a woodshop, as envisioned by his brother William, we aim to depict the multifaceted struggles of depression, highlighting the challenges faced by those supporting their afflicted loved ones. Written from personal experiences with my sister's battle with depression, the film addresses the need for greater understanding and empathy toward individuals with mental health conditions and those who support them. 'The Woods' contributes to raising awareness about mental health issues and advocates for robust support systems for affected individuals. Promoting meaningful conversations and visibility across all sectors of mental health.
