Under the load of life
Directed by Kahi Titab
Synopsis:
In the desolate mountains of Iran, over 20,000 people - men, women, and even children - have become "Kolbars," forced into a brutal smuggling trade. With limited opportunities, they risk their lives daily. Backbreaking treks of 30km under the weight of legal goods earn them a measly $16. The greatest threat is Iranian border guards. In 2022 only, 45 Kolbars were killed and 172 injured. It is a journey where every step could be their last.
