White Frankenstein
Directed by Vera J. Lansley
Synopsis:
Barry, a staunch racist in denial, is sent to a man named Mr. Silver in hopes of being healed from his prejudiced beliefs. On Barry’s arrival, Silver already knows exactly who Barry is and he is not afraid of vocalising this - even with the use of hypnotism and a ‘scream-off’. Mr. Silver uses the powers of truth to try and change Barry's mindset, but Barry remains skeptical. As the session comes to an end, Barry 'get's it' by ultimately taking a picture beside Mr. Silver in hope of using it as ‘proof’ that he is not racist.
Director Statement:
White Frankenstein showcases the effects of inequality in regards of race and the non-existent consequences of a racist in denial. White Frankenstein holds the intention of sparking the serious topic of racism through darkened humour, disguised in experimental cinematography and visuals.
