How can we shoot?

Directed by Liubov Sliusareva

Synopsis:
Violence versus art and hunting versus photography. What is the line between method and reason? Which protects you from life? a gun and a camera?

Director Statement:
The central theme of How Can We Shoot? revolves around the challenge I faced as a Ukrainian photographer and director when confronted with the harsh reality of a full-scale invasion. In grappling with this dilemma, I found myself questioning how one could remain honest in the face of such overwhelming circumstances. It became apparent that neither a camera nor a weapon could shield us entirely from the harsh truths of the world. In the unfolding of this cinematic journey, I had the privilege of collaborating with a talented cast and crew. The film marks the debut of an incredibly gifted actress, Sofia Polyakova. Our paths crossed and a creative synergy ignited, fuelled not only by artistic passion but also by a shared experience of having been compelled to leave Ukraine.
