Landlines and Loneliness

Directed by Florence Waters

Synopsis:
The landline represents all the lonely 'old soul' young adults that, like myself, often feel deeply lonely. I used a. mix of digital and traditional stop frame animation to show the juxtaposition between new and the old generations and how we deal with mental illness.

Director Statement:
I wanted to share a personal story through the metaphor of landline phones and mobile phones. I wanted to share an emotive storyline using an inanimate object; a representation of the decline in young people's mental state and the rise of mobile phones and social media. The landline phone is abandoned, scared and lonely.
