Ofelia
Directed by Facundo Bartucci
Synopsis:
What lasts after experiencing all aspects of life? A love letter to my grandmother and a profound call to action for myself, my family and every viewer, the paradoxical nature of the event depicted in this short film adds both richness and discomfort to the plot: in other words, exciting days like these have become the exception to the rule in Ofelia's life. A situation that is becoming more and more frequent in this postmodern era, this short documentary seeks to give a space to reflect to Ofelia, an elderly woman who, after having a complete taste of what life is and its whole spectrum, as of today she does not count with the support she once had throughout her live and founds herself the only one to bear witness to her story.
Director Statement:
Loneliness among elders have become a relevant topic in the last decades. With a technological growth that keeps happening at an exponential rate, plus a modern, fast-paced way of living, elders are usually forgotten by the postmodern society. This short film seeks to explore that particular kind of loneliness: a person that has experienced its whole life already, with a complete catalogue of stories that brims with characters but, now a days, immersed in a lonely life as time has left him/her as the only one to bear witness their story.
