Marco Tozzi

On behalf of the Red Cross of Milan, Marco Tozzi is responsible for the assistance service to the homeless. He coordinates the volunteers and he is the link between the organisation, the institutions and the beneficiaries.

Volunteer since 1983, during the day he works as an electronic engineer for a private company. Then, in the evening he spends his time for assistance to those who live in the streets.

In 2001, he found officially the service for the Cross of Milan and organised the first specific teams of volunteers focused on the treatment and qualified assistance of homeless persons. Thank his work over the years, nowadays the Italian Red Cross is among the major actor involved in the assistance to the homeless in the Milan Area.

Marco coordinates the service that counts almost 20 different mobile units every week. These units bring food and kits for personal hygiene, as well as blankets and sleeping bags that are vital items during winter.

Furthermore, he works every day with doctors and psychologists of the special units of the Red Cross of Milan, to provide medical treatments and more specialised assistance to the homeless people.

Gaia Romani

Born in Milan on April 28, 1996, she is Councillor for Civic Services, Participation and Transparency, Decentralization Policies of the City of Milan.

Her passion for politics began in school with her involvement in student organizations. At the age of sixteen she joined the Democratic Party, where she began militancy within the Young Democrats community. In the process, she enriched her educational and cultural background with several study abroad experiences, including a path for the Leaders for Social Change program at Yale University in 2011.

After graduating from high school, she became a councilwoman in City Hall 8 in 2016, where she chaired the Social Policies Commission, with delegations on youth policies, equal opportunities, social and health services, and associationism. It was an experience that gave her a closer insight into the functioning of institutions and citizen services.

After touching on how important it is to implement women's political participation, she co-founded Onde Rosa, a collective of young people under 30 fighting gender inequality. In 2018, she is among the initiators of the petition "STOP TAMPON TAX! The cycle is not a luxury," signed by more than 600,000 people, calling for the lowering of VAT from 22 percent to 4 percent on feminine hygiene products.

As a practicing labor consultant, after graduating from the State University with a law degree, in October 2021 she ran for the Milan local elections with the program Generazione Milano, written by 500 girls and boys. The third most voted woman in Milan, she is currently the youngest councillor of Giunta Sala.

Kopal Singh

Independent film producer, she started her career with Italian Producer/Director Brando Quilici and developed and produced projects ranging from documentaries (scientific historical documentaries for Television) to a children's feature film. Kopal has just delivered her first feature film called "The Tiger's Nest", written by Hugh Hudson, director of the Academy award winning film “Chariots of Fire”, distributed my Medusa films and TF1 internationally. Currently, Kopal is developing projects written by Indian writers set up against an international backdrop to bring more minority narratives to mainstream storytelling.

Giorgio Ghiotto

Giorgio Ghiotto is a passionate documentary filmmaker dedicated to raising awareness on human rights violations and environmental justice, with a special emphasis on advocating for indigenous communities. He has worked alongside the United Nations and various NGOs, and his most recent project involved investigating water pollution in Indigenous land in Peru caused by mining extraction and contemporary colonization. His documentary “NIHADA — Invisible dreams” for UNHCR premiered at the 28th Sarajevo Film Festival.

Marco Ferrari

Marco Ferrari is a screenwriter and film director for fiction, documentaries and commercials. His movies have been invited to more than 30 international film festivals around the globe. His first feature film “Simple Being” won Excellence in Cinematography in Netherlands and Best Feature Film in Serbia. The Modern Times Magazine called him a true master of storytelling for his documentary “Never Whistle Alone”. From 2009 to 2012, he lived in Los Angeles, where he studied at UCLA Film School and worked for Studios and independent productions. He currently lives in Milan, where he collaborates with advertising agencies, NGOs and production companies on creating impactful movies for an international audience.

Alessio Cremonini

Alessio Cremonini began as an assistant director, working among others with Ricky Tognazzi and Ettore Scola. In 1997 he wrote and directed four hands with Camilla Costanzo a short film entitled Marta, included in the episodic film I corti italiani, presented at the Venice Film Festival. Among the directors directing the episodes are Gillo Pontecorvo, Mario Monicelli, Ricky Tognazzi, Ettore Scola. In 2000 he co-wrote Voci, a film directed by Franco Giraldi based on the novel by Dacia Maraini, with Valeria Bruni Tedeschi.

In 2003 he wrote and directed with Camilla Costanzo the Rai 1 TV movie Una famiglia per caso, with Lando Buzzanca and Giovanna Ralli. In 2004 he co-wrote Private, Saverio Costanzo's directorial debut. In 2006 he wrote and directed with Camilla Costanzo the Rai 2 TV movie La notte breve, with Giuliana De Sio.

In 2013 he wrote, directed and co-produced Border, a self-produced film about the civil war in Syria. The film is entirely shot in Arabic and was screened at, among others, the festivals of Toronto, Rome, Cleveland, Belfast.

In 2018 he writes and directs Sulla mia pelle, with Alessandro Borghi and Jasmin Trinca. The film is presented with great success at the 75th Venice International Film Festival in the Horizons section. Sulla mia pelle wins 4 David di Donatello awards, Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Newcomer Director, Best Production, the David Giovani, and the Silver Ribbon of the Year.

In 2023 he writes and directs Prophets, with Jasmine Trinca, Isabella Nefar, and Ziad Bakri. June 2023 will see the release in bookstores of Ora dormono, his first novel, published by Einaudi.

Since January 2023 co-artistic director of MiX International LGBTQ+ and Queer Culture Film Festival in Milan, she has been working for MiX since 2018 as programmer, international relations manager, sponsorship manager and producer; programmer for Immaginaria film festival; producer of documentaries (La Bufera, 2019; Le ali non sono in vendita, 2021). For the past 4 years she has been a member of the selection committee for the WIP competition/industry section of Zinegoak, a lgbtq film festival in Bilbao. When she is not involved in filmmaking, she works as a legal sustainability consultant.

Giulia Bardelli

Visual designer, web developer and teacher, with a focus on digital design and branding for non-profit organisations.

After a BA in Visual Communication at Polytechnic University of Milan and a Graphic Design MA in the Netherlands, she works between Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Milan.

Together with Andrea Guccini and Michele Pastore in 2021 she founded Studio But Maybe, a graphic and digital design studio. She currently teaches at IED in Milan and at IAAD in Bologna (IT).

For the past 15 years she has overseen the student jury for the CILECT Prize (an annual award reserved for productions from film schools around the world) and participated in several international conferences on audiovisual education. She has been a member of several short film festival juries, producer and editor of several documentaries made with the support of local institutions on the themes of immigration and environmental sustainability.
